FAQs
Who is Soloma for?
Single mothers navigating housing alone. Whether you're starting to think about a move, own a home you'd consider sharing, or want to explore co-renting as an option.
Is this for divorced, widowed, or never married mothers specifically?
All of the above. If you're raising children alone for any reason, Soloma is for you.
Is this open to mothers outside the US?
Right now, our resources are US-based. We're building with a global community in mind and plan to expand as we grow. Let us know where you're located when you join, so we can plan ahead.
How is this different from finding a place via Facebook group or WhatsApp?
Community groups help you find each other. But that's a great first step. Soloma is what comes after: a structured process that matches you on housing and childcare compatibility, verifies both families, and gives you frameworks to move forward with confidence, so your job is simply deciding if the match is right.
What does co-renting actually look like day-to-day?
Typically, single-mom families share a larger home or apartment, each with their own bedroom(s) for themselves, their kids, a shared common space, household costs, and childcare. We'll walk you through different models (shared lease, sublease, etc.) once you're matched, so you can choose what fits.
How do I know my children are safe?
Everyone in the Soloma matching pool has been verified before introductions are made. That means confirmed identity via video intro and at least one reference from someone who knows them in a parenting or community context.
Additionally, after every first meeting both families are requested to leave a brief note visible only to Soloma, in order for us to build a trust history over time for safety and accountability.
What if we move in and things don't work out?
Sharing a home is a real commitment, and like any living arrangement, it doesn't always go the distance. That's worth going in with eyes open, which is exactly why we front-load the hard conversations before you sign anything.
Our co-renting starter pack gives both families a shared framework to align on upfront: finances, routines, expectations, and what happens if circumstances change. The more you agree on before you move in, the better equipped you are to handle what comes after.
Once you're in your home, the day-to-day is yours to navigate. Soloma isn't able to mediate disputes or enforce lease arrangements between families as that sits outside what we do. What we can do is make sure you go in prepared with the right structure, the right expectations, and a plan agreeable to both parties before any legally binding commitments.
I'm not ready to talk to anyone yet. Can I just observe?
Yes. Joining the waitlist doesn't commit you to anything beyond being open to a future conversation. We'll share resources either way, whether or not you ever co-rent.
What if I join and change my mind while still on the waitlist?
Nothing. No pressure, no follow-up guilt. You can unsubscribe whenever you want.
When does it launch?
We're building now and matching begins as our community grows. Joining the waitlist puts you in the priority pool, and helps us shape Soloma into a powerful resource through your feedback.

OUR STORY
Hi, my name is Baroosh and I'm a single mom of two.
I grew up somewhere where shared living wasn't a radical idea. Joint families shared homes as a matter of course. Sisters split two-storey houses, one above, one below. Summer nights spent playing carom while the kids stole ice-popsicles well past their curfews. The house was always full, and the weight of it shared.
Somewhere along the way I stopped expecting that. But I never stopped wanting it.
As the only parent, I've done the math on a two-bedroom at midnight, renewed the lease on a place too small for the right school district, and stretched a month further than it was meant to go because there wasn't an alternative. All while stress-laughing into the void and wishing another single mama would fall out and help.
I know there are others that feel the same, so I'm setting out to search and build with moms who take on the brunt of carrying a family forward, finding themselves in a housing market that's impossible to navigate on a single income.
Right now, we are a small, founding circle of single mothers shaping what Soloma becomes.
If you'd like to be a part of this circle, let us know.
—Love, Baroosh
GOING IN PREPARED
We know sharing a home and a lease with another family is a big step,
so we want to be upfront about the practical side.
Understand what you're signing
Before any lease is signed, we'll walk you through your co-tenancy options (like joint lease, primary tenant + roommate agreement, or separate leases), along with a guide for splitting expenses and coordinating childcare, so you're working from a shared starting point.
Take your time
An introduction is just the start. You'll have space to get to know each other through conversations and meet ups so you're deciding with confidence, not crossing your fingers. If it's not the right fit, there's no pressure and no penalty. You'll simply stay open to a new introduction when you're ready.
How your household runs day-to-day is yours to shape. But we'll provide you with resources at match so you're not figuring things out in a vacuum.

Shared with care, never sold.
We never sell or share your information with advertisers or third parties. Within Soloma, your full profile is only visible to your matched family once you've both expressed interest. Before that, potential matches see a limited summary, enough to gauge fit, not your full story.
Verified community
Every applicant is vetted by our team through at least one reference, a selfie and a short intro video before the matching process kicks in.
We match only vetted single-mom families to each other, with child-specific background screening and parenting compatibility scoring built in from day one.
Real humans in the loop
We may use tools to help narrow down potential matches, but every introduction is personally reviewed and approved by our team before it happens.
SAFETY & PRIVACY
Nothing about you is visible publicly.
HOW IT WORKS
Simple, guided, and built around you.
Step 1:
Join the waitlist
We're building our directory now. Joining lets us reach you with practical next steps, so we can shape the matching process around real needs, including yours.
Step 2:
Build your profile
A short questionnaire covering your must-haves and what you're looking for in a co-home family.
For example location, budget, school district, schedule, values, personality, and your day-to-day.
Step 3:
Get matched
We compare your profile across housing and childcare compatibility and make the introduction when there's a genuine match on both ends. No cold searches. No scrolling strangers. Just a curated introduction when
the fit is real.
Step 4:
Meet and decide through a structured framework
We provide you with a co-renting starter pack outlining key considerations, guiding you in a structured manner to approach co-renting before signing a lease. Our goal is to ease you into the process, and help you gauge for yourself whether a match fits your family's needs. From there, it's your call, on your timeline.

THE IDEA
The housing market wasn't built for you. We are.
Single mothers are already figuring this out together: in online groups, in closed chats, in shared frustration with a housing market built for more than one income. The missing piece isn't community. It's a way to find the right family to co-rent with. A family that's compatible, safe, budget-aligned, and good for your kids.
That's the gap Soloma fills.
An app designed to vet, match, and help you co-rent with single mother families shaped like yours.
We're building this with the women it's made for. If you're a single mother navigating a housing market solo, come find us first.
We are the only platform that matches single mom families on housing costs
and childcare, splitting the two biggest expenses in their budget at once.
Join our waitlist as we gauge interest. Our waitlist is free, requires no commitment,
and becomes a way for us to share our app when live in beta.
